July Update of Friends of Five Cities Fire Authority
Hello Friends of Five Cities Fire Authority!
This is your Summer Newsletter!
• Our first campaign to raise funds to “Fill the Saw Box” for Engine 2
was a grand success. The Oceano Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast raised $700
and we secured our first $1,000 Corporate Partner!
• Also, because of a generous donation, Friends purchased protective hoods
for the firefighters. These Nomex Flash Hoods protect firefighters when
they are attacking a fire and because the hood’s materiel collects
potentially toxic substances. By providing a spare hood, firefighters can
now change hoods after the fire has been extinguished and conduct the
salvage and overhaul process. The hoods can be later washed at the fire
stations. Most important, these spare hoods help safeguard their health.
• Membership has grown to include 8 Lifetime Member Battalion Chiefs; 22
Founding Member Captains and 17 Annual Member Firefighters!
• Our website Friendsof5citiesfire.org is under construction and has an
estimated launch date by the end of July.
JOIN your Friends at our booth on Sunday, July 16th at 3 p.m. at Ramona Garden Park in Grover Beach for the summer concert and to kick off our latest project to raise funds to replace and standardize all fire hose nozzles!
HELP If you would like to help raise funds for this project, a membership/donation form has been attached. New memberships, Corporate and Community Partners and donations are always welcome and greatly appreciated!
